Devon Squeezebox Foundation announces
Access All Areas Squeezebox Maintenance Day!
Date: Sunday October 3rd 2010
Venue: Cheriton Bishop Village Hall, Devon
Tutors: Rees Wesson, Dave Byett and Colin Dipper
Cost: £30
It’s going to be a practical day, with both talks on different aspects of squeezebox maintenance and repair by these excellent box makers/repairers and the opportunity of getting inside that “project” squeezebox you bought, thinking “I could do that up…” We will be advising which tools will be needed nearer the time.
We shall be covering Concertinas, Piano Accordions and Melodeons, but if you have something else in mind eg a Bandoneon, just ask, we can probably deal with that too!
Places are limited, so it will be on a strictly first come, first served basis.
If you wish to book in please email Ed Rennie at devonsqueezebox@hotmail.co.uk

Show of Hands, Wells,
Hi Steve
Don’t know if this is relevant but – tickets for the October Show of Hands concert in Wells cathedral are selling very quickly – not close to selling out but maybe this could go on your next news letter so people don’t miss out?
Many thanks
Rachael
(Multi) string player wanted
Duncan Churchill-Moss has asked if I can re-run this request:
I am looking for a (multi) string player – e.g. violin/viola etc, and/or any dbl course instruments incl bouzouki, cittern, octave mandola etc etc to form semi acoustic band.
I play hurdy gurdies, bagpipes, saxes etc.

Duncan lives near Glastonbury, but emphasises that he’s not necessarily looking for someone local.

Session News
The Trooper, Stourton Caundle
There will be no 4th Sunday tune session this month. The next one will be 28th September. (Always worth checking at this time of year.)
Ring of Bells, Ashcott
I’ve had confirmation that the sessions at the Ring of Bells, first Saturday of the month, are still going (they’ve been on my list as ‘unconfirmed’ for ages). The resident musician is John Herbert.
Ashill Inn, Ashill
Tony Watts (of the Acoustic Diary) writes:
Would anybody in the Taunton/Ilminster area be interested in coming to a singaround/music session at the Ashill Inn on the last Friday of every month (this is nothing to do with the first Friday session run by members of Dyer-Cumming). The landlady says I’d be welcome to come and make music with some friends on a Friday and I’ve chosen the last Friday because it doesn’t clash with the Blazing Stump or come the day before Eli’s. If you think you can come along, please let me ((Tony)) know. If enough people are interested I’ll fix up the first session and let you all know.
